Fine Art Newborn Portrait Session

Session Fee: $200 in Studio or on Location (For non-studio locations, prop usage is limited and not all image setups may be possible. Please contact me for details)

For best results, newborns should be 7 days or younger. I have photographed newborns as old as 30 days with good results but for photographs of babies sleeping in unusual positions (e.g. parent's hands) the younger the better. The older the child, the less productive the session will be, as older babies tend to wake easier and tend to stretch out instead of preferring the fetal position.

It is best to contact me before the birth of your child to discuss and plan for your session. A pre-session meeting and consultation is included in the fee and we will discuss your expectations and all necessary preparations. The photo session will last 2 to 3 hours. The Studio has a full kitchen and a sitting area that can be used for feedings, etc. You can expect to see approximately 12 to 24 digital proofs from the session.

The fee includes the photographer's time and talent, studio fee, props usage, fine art digital image editing and the pre-session consultation. The fee does not include prints, digital files, or other additional services. After the no obligation consultation, if you would like to reserve a date range in my calendar for your session, a small deposit is needed. This is done to avoid overbooking and ensures your photo session and post production work gets my full attention. The session fee balance is due on the day of your session before it begins. Payment for print orders is only due once the prints are delivered to you and you are completely satisfied with them.

New props for 2012

I have recently purchased several antiques for the specific purpose of using them in newborn portraits. These really make for beautiful images and provide a unique contrast between the very new child and the very old antiques. Included is an old nurse's nursery scale, old baskets, including a hand made cradle shaped willow basket and old wooden boxes (Coke box, box with lid and others). About the photographer - Scott Dimond

I have been taking newborn photos since 2006. My style has traditionally been a very natural fine art look (babies alone or in parent's hands with no visible clothing, usually in B&W). Lately I have been introducing antiques to provide an additional unique style while still staying within the fine art approach. My wife Julie and I have three boys. Julie is usually available to assist me during newborn and maternity session.

Prints

Each print ordered includes retouching and is printed on professional quality papers and canvases. A large selection of papers, canvases, albums and displays are available. Also, for each print ordered, a low-resolution digital version of the final retouched image is included for your use in emailing, online display, or use in photo frames etc.

Print prices start at $25 for 8x10s. Larger prints, print packages, albums, and fine art canvases are also available. Please contact me to discuss options and prices.
